Last weekend, on March 23 and 24th, I was a judge at a hackathon hosted by Hitachi in XNode Zhangjiang Space, Shanghai.
This hackathon was sponsored by Hitachi and attracted 16 teams of participants of diverse backgrounds from Japan, South Korea, China and Singapore.
The theme of the hackathon was “Fintech and blockchain”, and participants were expected to come up with various solutions to the listed challenges over the weekend.
True to the developer’s spirit, participants worked hard to solve the given challenges. Most of them even burnt the midnight oil to come up with a proof-of-concept under time pressure.
At the end of the competition, Pyxis, Wild Waves, My Classmate Xiao Ming and Group 2 won the first, second, third prizes and the special Hitachi prize respectively. They also received cash awards from Hitachi and Scry.
Pyxis–a group of freshman developers from ShanghaiTech University and Zhejiang Gongshang University– unanimously won first place. I was truly heartened that talented young folks are so into the blockchain space and have high hopes for the future of Fintech! Hehe~ Subsequently i wrote two recommendation letters for them (upon their request) since they intend to join other hackathons to further their ideas. Such an amazing business model!
Truly, we look forward to future collaborations globally, powered by a strong spirit of decentralisation!
