A quick post before I go to bed on the topic of greed and cryptocurrency.
Adam Smith once wrote in “The Wealth Of Nations”:
“It is not from the benevolence of the butcher, the brewer, or the baker, that we expect our dinner, but from their regard to their own interest. We address ourselves, not to their humanity but to their self-love, and never talk to them of our necessities but of their advantages.”
Against this context, do you believe that social welfare will only be maximised as a precession, and not a main goal?
Satoshi Nakamoto also said this of bitcoin, referring to proof of work at its very core:
“With e-currency based on cryptographic proof, without the need to trust a third party middleman, money can be secure and transactions effortless.”
Since the fundamental structure of crypto is trustless-ness, can we actually create a better world by acting mainly in accordance to self-interest, especially when it comes to crypto?
The bible says–“I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.” There is so much wisdom and truth in this verse.
Isn’t it food for thought? It is food for thought for me–Sheep among wolves– how should you play to thrive, and then go on to influence positively, in accordance to your purpose?
Good night 🙂
